Men's Hair Color--Do's and Don'ts
The way for men to get the hair color they want and keep it that way is by following these basic do's and don'ts.
- DO color your hair when the first gray hairs appear. And take the time to find the men's hair color that matches your natural haircolor.
- DO apply color to the most resistant gray hair first. For men, that includes the beard, mustache, and sideburns. Then go to where the gray hair is thicker, usually around the temples.
- DO keep any unmixed portion of men's hair color for later use if (and only if!) it hasn't been exposed to the air for more than 2 minutes.
- DON'T avoid swimming but try to avoid over-chlorinated pools. The excess chlorine sometimes affects men's hair color.
- DON'T use hair color on hair that has just been relaxed or permed without waiting 7 days and one shampoo. After this short wait, read the instructions and feel free to use men's hair color without any concerns.
